Unknown miscreants poisoned an overhead water tank at a school in Suntikoppa village in Karnataka. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

The incident came to light when few kids complained to the teachers that the water coming out of the washroom taps smelled terrible. The issue was then brought to the knowledge of school principal.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the overhead water tank’s lid was open, according to The Times of India. The water in the tank had a terrible odour as well. The school staff and management contacted the police, the gram panchayat president, Shivamma, and the block education officer posted in Suntikoppa, SI Puneet, who after the inspection confirmed adulteration. A case was opened at the same time, and the water was taken to a lab for examination.

This isn’t the first time someone has poisoned a water tank in Karnataka, resulting in a public health issue. For example, 11 pupils at a government elementary school in Mandya’s Hullukere Village were ill after drinking pesticide-contaminated water. Five of them were in critical condition, but there were no recorded casualties.

An anonymous individual poisoned a tank in another incident from Shibaje Perla. The tank supplied water to about 70 homes in the neighbourhood, as well as a government school. The crime was discovered when someone observed dead flies in the water. Following the additional inquiry, it was discovered that the tank had been poisoned.
