Kasaragod: A mother-daughter duo was found dead under mysterious circumstances at their home in Kasaragod.

The deceased have been identified as Narayani (45) wife of Chandran, and her daughter Sreenanda (12) — all residents of Neerkarya Kundamguli in Bedadka.

Sources said Narayani was found hanging inside the shed next to the kitchen, while her daughter Sreenanda was found dead in a room inside the house.

The deaths came to light on January 22 when neighbours visited the house after phone calls made by them to Narayani went unanswered. The Bedagam police who were informed of the incident rushed to the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation.

The bodies were later shifted to a hospital for an autopsy.

It is learnt that Narayani rolled beedis while her husband Chandran worked as a tourist bus driver. He had left for Ooty on a trip a couple of days earlier. Their daughter Sreenanda was a grade-7 student at Kundamguli Government Higher Secondary School.

Meanwhile, police said they are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. The exact cause of their deaths will be known only after the post-mortem report is received, they added.
