Kasargod: In a gruesome murder, a woman was found beheaded in her house on the early morning of December 6. Her husband who is suspected to have committed the crime was taken into custody by the Bekal police.
The lifeless body of the victim, Usha (35), was found in her home in the residential quarters in Perladka.
It is gathered that the victim’s husband, Ashok, was observing austerities related to Sabarimala Pilgrimage. As he did not arrive for the early morning prayers to the Mandir, his friends come to his house. They found it locked. When they peeped into the house through a window, they found Usha in a pool of blood.
The police who were alerted by the neighbors took up the inquiry. They found the victim in a decapitated state in the house.
Meanwhile, Ashok tried to flee from the spot. The police nabbed him near the Kasargod railway station later. Sources said he is being interrogated to know the exact circumstance and the motive behind the crime.
Some neighbors claimed that the accused exhibited symptoms of being mentally unstable for some time. However, it is still too early to confirm these claims, sources said.
