Kaup: Prominent social worker Leeladhar Shetty, his wife found dead; Suicide suspected

A prominent social worker, senior theatre artiste, religious and social leader Leeladhar Shetty (68), and his wife Vasundhara Shetty (58), have reportedly ended their life by suicide.

They were found hanging from the ceiling using a saree. Their deaths may have occurred between 11:20 PM and 12:30 AM on Tuesday.

It has been learned that they left a death note at their home, indicating that they chose to end their lives. Local police reached the spot and are conducting further investigations.

Leeladhar Shetty and Vasundhara Shetty were highly regarded figures in various fields like art, culture, education, and religion. Leeladhar Shetty, known as Leelanna, served as an LIC agent and was actively involved in organizing programs in different cultural and educational spheres. Both were recognized for their contributions to society and received numerous awards and honors.

Leeladhar Shetty was also known for his involvement in various temple renovations and was respected for his inclusive approach towards all religions. The final rites for Leeladhar Shetty and Vasundhara Shetty are scheduled to be held at 4 pm on Wednesday, family sources said.
