Bengaluru: Hiriyur’s BJP MLA Purnima’s husband Srinivas has been expelled from the BJP for rebelling against the party’s decision and contesting in the Legislative Council’s South-East Graduates’ constituency election.

The expulsion order was issued by BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel, who expelled Srinivas from the party’s primary membership.

Srinivas earlier wanted a BJP ticket for the Sira Assembly constituency. But Rajesh Gowda was given the ticket. Later, he expressed his desire to contest the Legislative Council elections.

After he was denied ticket for it, he submitted his nomination as an independent candidate for the constituency.

The party instructed him to withdraw his nomination papers, he refused, thus Nalin Kumar Kateel ordered his expulsion from the party.
