Kundapura: The Gas Saving Kit (GSK), an invention by class 10 students Anusha and Rakshita Naik of the Charamakki Narayan Shetty Memorial Government High School, Albady, has been selected for the “CSIR Innovation Award” conducted by the Ministry of Science and Technology for school children.
“Preparing the GSK cost us Rs 600. If it is installed on a gas stove, enough hot bath water required for a four-member family will be ready while the food items are cooked. This will help in saving lakhs of tonnes of LPG per day,” the girls said.
The school is making headlines at the State and national levels for the second time.
The promo video produced by the school for PM Modi’s “Pariksha Pe Charcha” was widely circulated and praised and Anusha was selected for interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The prime minister will hand over the awards at a function in New Delhi, to students from 14 schools in the country on September 26.
