Lack of MCC health department officials in wards

Mangaluru: In the backdrop of dengue, the officials of the health department of Mangaluru City Corporation are carrying out their duties under the district health department at only two or three wards and allegations are being heard that this has caused problem to the effective implementation of the programmes of the health department at other wards within the corporation limits.
The health department has been provided with 60 MPW workers, 10 supervisors and 27 sprayers by the MCC for its work against dengue.
Hence, since these people are discharging their duties at only dengue affected wards, the work of the health department at other wards is taking a hit. Besides, there are allegations that if the MCC wants the workers of the health department, it needs to take permission from the health department which is another cause for the problem.
Will return back to duty
Speaking with ‘Udayavani’ regarding the issue, MCC commissioner Mohammed Naseer said that in the backdrop of dengue outbreak, the officials working under the corporation’s health department have been temporarily deputed to the district health department. From Aug 21st onwards, all the deputed workers will return back to their earlier duties and carry out the wok in their designated wards. Till now, they were primarily working on high importance for the dengue affected areas, he explained.
