New Delhi/Bengaluru: The Supreme Court of India on Friday has stayed the Karnataka High Court order on the refusal of quashing the criminal proceedings against former chief minister B S Yediyurappa under the Prevention for Corruption Act.

It can be recalled that BSY was accused of illegally denotifying acres of land to the entrepreneurs, while he was the chief minister in the year 2006-07. Based on the allegations, a case was registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In the year 2013, based on a private complaint by a person named Vasudeva Reddy, claiming that BSY had denotified acres of land in Bellandur and Devarabeesanahalli to develop an IT Park was filed. An FIR was registered based on the complaint.

Later, in 2020, BSY filed a plea in the Karnataka High Court asking to quash cases filed against him. The High Court had rejected his plea.
