M Chidananda Murthy cremated with state honors

Bengaluru: Senior literary scholar and researcher M Chidananda Murthy who died on Saturday was cremated with full state honours today,

The funeral was held at Sumanahalli crematorium. Several people paid their last respects to the literary scholar.

The cremation was held according to Vedic procedure but, as per Chidananda Murthy’s wish, no funeral rituals or rites were performed.

Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa had paid his last respects to Chidananda Murthy yesterday.

Born in Channagiri in Davanagere district in 1931, Chidananda Murthy had achieved an unprecedented feat in the field of Kannada literary studies.
