M K Pranesh elected as Deputy Chairperson of Karnataka Legislative Council

Belagavi: M K Pranesh is elected as the Deputy Chairperson of Karnataka Legislative Council.
In the elections held today (December 23) for the chair of the Deputy Speaker, Pranesh got 39 votes, whereas the Congress candidate Aravind Kumar Arali managed to get 26 votes.
However, the JDS legislators refrained from voting.
Pranesh was recommended by BJP leaders Kota Srinivas Poojary, S Rudregowda, Talwar Sabanna, and Arun D S.
Aravind was recommended by Congress leader B K Hariprasad.
Meanwhile, taking to Twitter, Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai tweeted, “I heartily congratulate Sri M K Pranesh to have been elected as the Deputy Chairperson of the Karnataka Legislative Council. I wish that your experience will enhance the proceedings of the House.”

The strength of the Legislative Council is BJP – 39, Congress – 26, JDS – 8, and Independent – 2.
