Maitreyi Karanth proves true passion really has no expiry date!

American Chess player and columnist Herman Steiner once famously said, “Getting old, sometimes, means that there’s still time to learn a few more things.” This holds true for Maitreyi Karanth, a Kannadiga from Udupi and a math teacher, who at the age of 40, ventured out of her comfort zone to pursue a career in performing arts. Yes, she signed up for acting classes and is rising in popularity as an actor, producer, and stand-up comedian on the international scene.

Though she began her performing career much later than many, she has been quickly climbing the success ladder due to her passion for acting, humanism, and stand-up comedy.  The multi-talented performer, Karanth, has already appeared on several TV series and films and has been breaking age and gender-related stereotypes — especially at the stand-up comedy scene in far-off Hong Kong — true to the precept “true passion has no expiry date.”

Maitreyi’s firm belief in humanism is visible in the charity work she undertakes. Not only does she actively feed the hungry and homeless on the streets of Hong Kong, but also donates the proceeds from her shows to build a roof for the poor in the Philippines and Thailand.

In her talks shows, Maitreyi inspires everyone to set clear goals. If your goals are clear, nothing can stop you, she says. Her infectious positivity has impacted many and continues to earn a huge following day by day.
