Maladi: Govt school playground fence destroyed

Case registered against 15 people
Belthangady: Miscreants have completely destroyed the barbed wire that was laid in the presence of the Tahsildar and SDMC around the playground belonging Maladi government higher primary school and the act has been widely condemned. A case in this connection has been registered against 15 people at Punjalakatte police station. The accused are presently absconding.
Focal point of the dispute
Since two years there has been a dispute over the 45 acres of land at Maladi being provided by DC for use. The playground is included in that land and DSS association has been arguing since the beginning that it should be provided for everyone’s use. But under scrutiny, the documents clarified that 1.5 acres of land was indeed belonging to the school. In this backdrop, the headmaster and the SDMC officer laid the barbed wire around the measured 75 cents of land in the presence of the Tahsildar Ganapati Shastri.
Act committed after switching off the street lights
Late in the evening around 7:30 pm a few youths presumed to be locals, switched off the street lights and completely removed the barbed wire laid around the playground. The caution board laid as per the notification of the Tahsildar was also removed an destroyed.
Barbed wire to be re-laid
The Tahsildar has informed that the barbed wire will be re-laid in his presence on Saturday.
Special team to nab the accused
The accused in the case regarding the removal of the fence include Umesh (prime accused), Ganesh, Purandara, Vasanta, Girish, Shekhar, Sukesh, Yuvaraj, Padmanabha, Chikkayya, Dinesh, Naushad, Umesh and Ganesh. There is possibility that the number of accused may be more. A special team has been created to nab the accused, informed probationary SI Bhaskar.
