Malpe: Gold worth Rs 7 lakh stolen from jewellery production unit; One arrested

Malpe: Police officials have arrested a man from West Bengal for allegedly stealing gold jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh from a jewellery production unit in Udupi.
The arrested accused has been identified as Subhashish Bera (38) of Medinipur district, West Bengal.
On November 25, Bera had decamped with 126 g of gold worth around Rs 7 lakh from a jewellery production unit at Kelarkalabettu managed by Ramadas Nayak. Bera was an ex-labourer of the unit.
Bera had broken open the locks of the main door and decamped with some of the gold that was kept aside for making jewellery and a half-done necklace.
During the interrogation, Bera revealed that he had thrown the CCTV camera into the well. The camera has been retrieved and handed over to the Malpe police officials.
