Man dies on the day of retirement and birthday

Kadaba: It was his birthday and incidentally his day of retirement from service when the person collapsed and later died in the hospital. The deceased is identified as Muttappa Gowda (60), a resident of Koila, who was the assistant station officer of Kumta fire service station of Uttara Kannada district.

Mr Gowda retired from his service on July 31st which also happened to be his birthday. A farewell cum birthday celebration function was being held at the office of Kumta fire service squad when all of sudden Muttappa collapsed to the ground. He was rushed to Manipal hospital and he breathed his last three days later on August 3.

The deceased is survived by his wife and two sons while his brother Neelaiah also serves in the fire service department.
