An electric scooter caught fire while being charged, resulting in significant damage to household items and appliances in Valagerehalli village of Maddur taluk.

The scooter, which belonged to Muthuraj and was purchased six months ago, exploded within minutes of being plugged in.

The incident took place inside the house, and five members of the family narrowly escaped. The explosion led to the destruction of valuable items worth Rs 5 lakh, and the fire brigade had to be called in to extinguish the fire.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion.

Such incidents raise concerns over the safety of electric vehicles and the importance of following proper charging protocols.
