Mangaluru: 2021-22 Kambala season begins; 176 pairs participate in season’s inaugural

Punjalkatte: The Hokkadigoli Veera-Vikrama Joudkere Kambala, the first Kambala race of the 2021-22 season was held on Sunday.

The race organized by the Mahishamardini Kambala Committee was held at the race tracks at Hokkadigoli that is situated at the border areas of Eliyanadugodu in Bantwal Taluk and Arambodi in Belthangady Taluk.

As many as 176 pairs of water buffalo participated in various categories of competitions.

The attractions this year were the races in honor of late Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar sponsored by the ‘Dodmane Puneeth Rajkumar Abhimani Balaga’ from Bengaluru under the leadership of Kiran Kumar Manjila and Yashodhara Mahabala Poojari.

Thousands participated in the inaugural race of the popular Kambala race. Several noted dignitaries were in attendance.
