Mangaluru: Body of man found floating in a river at Haleyangady

Haleyangady: The body of a man was found floating in the waters of the Nandini river under a railway bridge near Haleyangady under the Mulki police station limits on Monday.

It was later identified to be Giriyappa Shettigar (74), a resident of Bellayaru village in Padupanambur gram panchayat.

It is learnt that the deceased was a daily wage laborer and had left home to fetch firewood in the morning.

However, the circumstances of his death as well as how he ended up in the river were not known at the time of publication.

Mulki police have registered a case and are investigating.
