Mangaluru: In a news conference held here on November 10, local Congress leaders blamed the local MLA for the chaotic development works being undertaken in the city under the Smart City project.

Mithun Rai, president of the Dakshina Kannada District Congress said that as Hampankatta was completely closed off, traders in the area are suffering. Adding that simultaneous works instead of phase-wise works are causing the public gross inconvenience. Its seems that the MLA has ordered the work to be urgently done.”

Former MLA JR Lobo said that this situation shows that the City Corporation has completely failed. If any developmental works are carried out then it must be seen how much problems it might cause before starting the work and not brutally carry it out without any planning.

“During the festival season, the authorities have ordered the shops to close seriously affecting the economic situation of the shopkeepers,” Lobo added.

Abdul Rauf, AC Vinayaraj, Naveen D’Souza, Shashidhar Hegde and other local Congress leaders were present during the news conference.
