Mangaluru: Customs officials at MIA seize gold worth Rs. 86,09,730 from Sep 25 to 30

Mangaluru: The Customs Officers at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) seized 1703 gms of 24-carat gold worth Rs. 86,09,730 in various cases from Sunday, September 25 to Friday, September 30.

Gold was seized from five male passengers hailing from Kasargod, Bhatkal, and Trivandrum who arrived from Dubai and Muscat.

The gold was smuggled through different modus operandi such as concealment in the paste/powder form mixed with solid gum inside the innerwears (brief and vest) worn by the passenger, in the rectum, and in form of colour coated coil inside the motor of the mixer grinder,
