Mangaluru: Engineer sentenced to 4 years in prison, charged Rs 26.5 lakh fine

An engineer has been sentenced to four years in jail and fined Rs 26.5 lakh by the Third Additional Sessions Court of the city.

The accused has been identified as Padmanabha N.K., who works as a junior engineer in Mulki Nagar Panchayat.

The verdict was pronounced on Thursday after Padmanabha was caught in a trap set by the Lokayukta.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Padmanabha had acquired property worth more than his income.

If he fails to pay the fine, Padmanabha will have to face an additional six months of imprisonment.
