
Mangaluru: Notorious thief arrested; Rs 5.80 lakh seized

Mangaluru: The city police officials have arrested a notorious thief who was involved in over 22 theft cases across the state.
The arrested accused has been identified as Hamid Kunhimonu Zafar (48), a resident of Padangadi village in Belthangady.
On November 16, Rs 9 lakh was stolen from a wholesale flower shop in Nalapad Apsara Chambers building on KS Rao Road. In addition, a CCTV camera DVR was stolen.
Police officials investigating the case detained the accused Hamid at Jyoti Circle on January 14.
Recently, a JCB driver found Rs 9 lakh in a bag during construction works at a site in Mangaluru. After his arrest, Hamid confessed that he had buried the money at the site.
Cops seized Rs 5.80 lakh from the accused.
