Mangaluru: Quick action by friends saves boy from abduction

Mangaluru: An attempt to abduct a boy by bike-borne culprits had occurred on January 14 in front of the Konchadi Mahalasa temple near the city’s Padavinangadi.
Three boys aged seven to eleven were on their way home near the Konchadi Mahalasa temple at about 7 pm on Wednesday when three men came in a two-wheeler and tried to force one of them into a sack.
Shivam Kamath, one of the three boys, attacked the three men on the bike with rocks and shouted for help. Fearing being caught, the culprits quickly escaped.
Later, when the boys stated about the incident to their household members, many initially did not believe it including the police. They did only after reviewing the CCTV footages of the abduction attempt.
After the confirmation of the incident by from the CCTV footages, Shivam Kamath has been lauded for his courage and quick thinking.
A case has been registered at Kankanady police station. DCP Hariram Shankar, Inspector Ashok and other officials visited the site and recorded information regarding the incident from the boys.
