Mangaluru: Repair works have been undertaken at Pumpwell flyover after cracks appeared at three places, including the protective wall on the bridge.

The Pumpwell flyover, that inspired several memes took about 10 years for completion, but the cracks appeared just three months after its inauguration.

The cracks started to appear after the unseasonal rains that lashed the city on Saturday, April 25.

Project director Shishu Mohan said hairline cracks appeared as the strengthening of the embankment, protection walls and flyover ramps had to be stopped due to the lockdown.

The district Congress meanwhile has alleged irregularities in the construction of the flyover and urged NHAI officials to conduct a probe.
