Mangaluru: Seven vehicles with four tonnes of beef seized

Hassan: The police seized seven vehicles containing four tonnes of beef and arrested two people on Sunday, January 24.
The police found four tonnes of beef packed in plastic containers used for transporting fish. The beef was set to be smuggled to Mangaluru.
On January 23, Dinesh Kumar, Alur police sub-inspector (crime) was on patrol duty when he received the information about the beef smuggling. Following which he went to a shed in Prakriti Nagar in Alur. Seeing the police, the accused ran away leaving the vehicles behind.
A person identified as Munna was hiding behind the bushes, was taken into custody. The police found that the illegal beef transportation had been planned there.
