Mangaluru: Special discussion held on COVID-19 and Ayushman Bharat

Mangaluru: A special discussion was held on September 16 at the Town Hall here on COVID-19 and Ayushman Bharat scheme. The discussion was organised by the district administration, the district’s Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Zilla Panchayat, the Mangaluru City Corporation and Wenlock district hospital.
The discussion was inaugurated by district in-charge minister MLA Kota Srinivas Poojary.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V stated that there is still confusion in the people about COVID-19 hence this discussion was organised to clear any doubts about the pandemic and additionally the benefits available under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Kota Srinivas Poojary stated that the treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme is completely free. People only need to present a few documents to avail it.
He added that 8 medical colleges hospital and 12 private hospitals in the district are already offering free treatment under the scheme and soon 12 more hospitals will be offering treatment as having applied to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Bharath Y Shetty, DCP Arunagshugiri, Mayor Diwakar, Deputy Mayor Vedavathi, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr Selvamani and others were in attendance in the discussion.
