Mangaluru: As the stage is set for the SSLC examinations in the state on March 28, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K V held a review meeting with the officials about the preparations.
To alleviate confusion about wearing hijab to examination halls, the DC said, as per government orders, students of government schools have to appear for the examinations in prescribed school uniforms.
However, the girl students of private schools can wear hijabs if the same is allowed as part of their school uniforms, he clarified adding that the BEOs have been instructed to inform the exam centers where girls will be attending exams wearing hijabs.
Such girls have to produce a letter signed by the headteacher of the school concerned about allowing hijabs to the officials at the examination centers, said the president of Federation of Muslim Educational Institutions Moosabba Beary.
Transport arranged for students from Kasaragod
Special vehicles have been arranged for the convenience of students traveling from neighboring Kasaragod on account of the two-day nationwide strike called by the unions on March 28 and 29, the DC said.
