Mangaluru: Stones pelted at Mithun Rai’s car at Moodushedde; sec 144 imposed

Mangaluru: A post-election clash erupted in Moodushedde on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred as Congress candidate Mithun Rai’s car was passing by, with BJP workers shouting slogans and Congress workers responding in kind.
The situation escalated when miscreants reportedly pelted stones at Rai’s vehicle, intensifying the already charged atmosphere.
However, swift action by the local police prevented further escalation of violence, as they rushed to the spot and managed to restore order. In an effort to maintain peace, additional police forces were deployed to the area, effectively bringing the situation under control.
Section 144 imposed
The tense background of the incident has led to the imposition of Section 144 in the Kavoor police station area, with additional police forces deployed to the spot.
In a bid to prevent any further escalation, check posts have been set up to restrict the entry of outsiders into Moodushedde.
An the investigation into the clash is underway.
It has been revealed that three Congress workers sustained minor injuries during the incident. Police Commissioner Kuldeep Jain confirmed that one police personnel was also injured while attempting to disperse the agitated crowd.
The injured individuals are receiving appropriate medical attention, he said.
The situation is under control, he added.
