Mangaluru: Trolley bag with gold lost during train journey found on railway tracks

Mangaluru: A trolley bag containing gold ornaments, which was lost in a moving train, was found near the railway tracks at Kulshekar in the city.

Ravindra M Shetty and his wife Shashikala Shetty were on their way to Mangaluru from Mumbai by train on February 27 when their trolley bag was lost between Surathkal and Mangaluru. A case of theft was registered at Mangaluru Railway Police Station.

A special team led by Mangaluru Railway Police Inspector Mohan Kottari was formed to investigate the matter. The trolley bag was found near the railway tracks at a turn near the Kulshekar tunnel while the special team was patrolling the track with railway staff.

The bag contained diamond and gold ornaments weighing 245 grams, which is estimated to be worth around Rs 8,57,500. Further investigations are underway.
