Mangaluru: Woman caller promises to enhance credit card limit, dupes man of Rs 6.9 lac

Mangaluru: In another case of cyber fraud, a woman caller posing as a bank representative alleged duped a man of Rs 6.9 lakh by fraudulently obtaining his OTP.
In his complaint, the victim stated that he received a call from the woman on October 29. She posed as a representative of the SBI credit card office and said that the bank was in process of verifying the credit card details of its customers.
After gaining the victim’s trust, the caller obtained the OTP by assuring him of enhancing the credit and cash limit of his card.
Once she got the OTP, an amount of Rs 99,274 was debited from the victim’s account. A total of Rs 6,94,918 was debited from his account in different transactions, the victim alleged.
The Cyber crime police are investigating the case.
