Mangaluru: Youth missing after being washed away by sea waves

Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, a youth who had gone for a swim in the sea with his friend, was washed away by the waves and has been missing. He is feared to have drowned in the sea at Lighthouse Beach near Surathkal on Saturday afternoon.

The missing youth has been identified as Satyam (18), a resident of Kana.

Satyam along with his friend Prabhakaran had gone to the beach near Surathkal lighthouse. The duo got into the water when they got trapped in a sea wave. Only Prabhakaran managed to swim ashore.

Prabhakaran alerted the locals in the area, following which a search and rescue operation has been launched to trace Satyam.

Satyam was a final-year Diploma student at Karnataka Polytechnic (KPT).
