Many public works in Kundapura taluk completed under MNREGA during lockdown

Kundapura: The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has become a boon to many unemployed and semi-employed people in the taluk here during the lockdown as many public works such well construction and lake development were done under the scheme.
In Hosadu village, the Kadubina lake spread over seven acres was redeveloped by 36 people at a cost of Rs 2 lakhs. Two more lakes – Madivala and Gummana – within Hosadu gram panchayat limits is also under redevelopment.
Due to the severe water scarcity problem in Hemmadi village, 60 wells have already were dug within the gram panchayat limits using the scheme.
