Mars to appear with coral-like glow in night sky

Udupi: Mars will be shining like corals in the eastern evening sky for the entire month.

Mars will be closest to Earth on October 13. This phenomenon is known as Mars Opposition, which happens about every 2 years and 2 months.

During this time Mars looks big and shines like corals all night.

It takes Mars, which is about 24 crore kilometres away from the sun, 687 days to orbit it.

Earth, which is 15 crore kilometres away, comes close to Mars on its orbit in about 2 years and 50 days.

On October 13, Earth will be about 6.2 crore kilometres away from Mars.

The next time this phenomenon will occur in November 2021. Then the Earth will be about 39 crore kilometres away from Mars.
