Bengaluru: In view of the sudden demise of Minister Umesh Katti on Tuesday, the government has canceled the Janotsava convention scheduled to be held tomorrow (September 08) at Doddaballapura.
Minister Muniratna informed the media that the Janotsava program has been postponed to September 11, Sunday.
The whole state is mourning the untimely demise of Umesh Katti and it would not be appropriate to hole the public convention at this time of grief, he said.
Muniratna requested the activists and leaders arriving for the Janotsava program to delay their arrival for Sunday.
Janotsava event is being organized to celebrate the completion of three years of BJP government in the state and Chief Minister Basavaraj Boomai’s first year in office.
The event has been postponed twice already. CM Bommai had announced cancellation of the event once on the backdrop of the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha activist Praveen Nettaru in Dakshina Kannada district and again on the eve of Gowri and Ganesh festival celebrations.
Three-day state mourning
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the state government will observe three-day mourning in honour of Minister Umesh Katti. The CM who arrived in Belagavi for attending the funeral of the departed leader told the media that no government programs, including Janotsava, will be held on these three days.
