Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has revised autorickshaw fares in the district increasing the minimum fare from Rs 30 for the first 1.5 km to Rs 35 with effect from November 15.

The per kilometer charge after meter down is Rs 17. Waiting charges would be nil for the first 15 minutes and it would be Rs 5 for the next 15 minutes.

Luggage charges would be free for the first 20 kg, and Rs 5 per 20 kg over that.

Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., autorickshaw drivers will be allowed to charge one-and-a-half times the meter rate.

RTA has also decided to implement color coding for auto-rickshaws. All types of rickshaws including e-auto rickshaws in Zone-1 (Mangaluru city) and Zone 2 (Mangaluru Rural) must be painted black and yellow. The rickshaws must prominently display the sticker issued by the police department on all four sides of the vehicle.
