Missing deep sea trawler: Truth demanded

Team Udayavani, Feb 17, 2019, 2:48 AM IST

Udupi: 63 days have passed since the mysterious disappearance of the deep sea trawler Suvarna Tribhuja along with its crew of 7 fishermen and yet there has been no information regarding it. The navy had said that some object had hit the hull of one of its ship which suffered damages. But they have failed to provide an answer regarding what was the object that did hit the ship. Hence there is suspicion that the navy is trying to hide something, said Satish Kunder, president of the Malpe fishermen association.

He was addressing the media at SP office after meeting with the SP on Saturday and said that there are thoughts to conduct strike in front of the naval base at Karwar and CM’s residence with the aim to get clear information by putting pressure on the defence ministry through the state government.

In order to achieve cooperation, a committee must be created which should include the navy, coast guard, police and the fishermen, demanded Mr Kunder. The family members of the missing fishermen were preset on the occasion.
