MLC bypoll: BJP gives ticket to Baburao Chinchanasur

‎Bengaluru:‎‎ Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given ticket to former Minister Baburao Chinchansur for the MLC bypolls, which were necessary following the resignation of C M Ibrahim.‎

‎Baburao Chinchansur, 71, a senior leader of the Koli community, was the textile ports and inland transport minister in the Siddaramaiah-led government. He quit Congress and joined the joined BJP, after losing to JD(S) candidate Naganagouda Kandkur in the 2018 Karnataka Assembly Elections.

‎Baburao Chinchanasur is expected to be elected unopposed as Congress and JD(S) lack the majority in the bypoll. Monday is the last date for filing nominations.‎
