MLC bypoll: BJP gives ticket to Baburao Chinchanasur

Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given ticket to former Minister Baburao Chinchansur for the MLC bypolls, which were necessary following the resignation of C M Ibrahim.
Baburao Chinchansur, 71, a senior leader of the Koli community, was the textile ports and inland transport minister in the Siddaramaiah-led government. He quit Congress and joined the joined BJP, after losing to JD(S) candidate Naganagouda Kandkur in the 2018 Karnataka Assembly Elections.
Baburao Chinchanasur is expected to be elected unopposed as Congress and JD(S) lack the majority in the bypoll. Monday is the last date for filing nominations.
