M’luru: POSCO convict sentenced to ten years imprisonment

Puttur: The fifth additional district and sessions court here sentenced a man to 10 years of imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl six years ago.
The convicted Sathish from Jalsoor village will have to pay a penalty of Rs 25,000 and failure to do so would attract a 1-year extension in his sentence.
The Sullia police had booked Sathish under the POSCO Act on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother. At the time when the crime took place (December 20, 2015), the victim was six years old. The complaint states that Sathish had lured the victim by promising to give her ice cream and toffee and then sexually assaulted her.
In the verdict, court judge Rudolph Pereira directed to pay Rs 20,000 from the penalty to the victim as compensation. The Dakshina Kannada district Legal Services Authority has been asked to release Rs one lakh compensation to the victim.
