Bengaluru: Predicting the possibility of heavy rainfall, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 5 districts of the southern hinterland for the next three days.
A yellow alert has been announced for the districts of Kolar, Kodagu, Tumkur, Hassan, and Chikkamagaluru. These districts are expected to witness heavy rains.
IMD said that rain is likely to occur in other parts of the state from June 18 to 21.
According to IMD, monsoon has entered some districts of the state. It has reached up to Belagavi, Gadag, Vijayanagar, and Chitradurga districts.
Conditions are favourable for the monsoon to reach Bengaluru, Koppal, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Yadgiri, Raichur, and Bidar from June 18 to 21. However, despite the monsoon arrival, rainfall is expected to be low, IMD said.
Mangaluru and Udupi are likely to receive more rain. As Monsoon winds are likely to blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour, fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea.
