Moodbidri: In a tragic development, the Moodbidri teacher who had tested positive for COVID-19 passed away on Friday, October 16.

The deceased Padmakshi and her husband, who also happens to be a teacher contracted the infection during one of their visits to teach children under the state government’s ‘Vidyagama’ scheme.

The couple’s daughter, Aishwarya, through a social media post, highlighted the plight of her parents and sought help during the crisis.

Responding to her appeal, Minister for Education Suresh Kumar had assured that the full cost of their treatment would be borne by the government and had directed Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Director of Public Education Department to take good care of the teachers.

While Padmakshi’s husband has recovered from the infection, the former fell victim to the infection
