In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old girl died of a suspected case of dengue fever on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Misriya, a first PUC student and resident of Jyotinagar municipality. According to reports, Misriya’s death was due to a drop in white blood cells, which is suspected to be a case of dengue.

Misriya, who was the second daughter of the Mayyaddi-Ramlat couple of Jyotinagar, was a science student at Alvas Pre-University College. She had been suffering from a high fever for a few days and died on Sunday night due to an aggravation of her white blood cells. Her father Mayyaddi, who is employed in Dubai, reportedly rushed back to town after hearing about his daughter’s illness.

Dr. Sujay Bhandari, the Health Officer, stated that in cases of malaria and dengue in government hospitals, information is available immediately. However, information will be available only after private hospitals report it to the malaria center. Misriya’s case has not yet been reported to the Malaria Center, and no cases of death due to dengue have been recorded in the Moodbidri taluk in recent times, he added.

Dr. Bhandari assured that an immediate investigation will be conducted and appropriate action will be taken.
