A new study suggests that Moon is estimated to have formed 85 million years later than previously thought. It is said that it was born at the end of Earth’s formation.
It is said that, the scientists used a new computer model and estimated how long it took the moon’s hot magma ocean to cool down.
Earlier, the Moon rocks brought back to Earth by the astronauts of the Apollo missions and the three Soviet Luna robotic missions did not help in determining the actual age of the moon.
The results show that the Moon was formed 4.425 billion years ago.
