Ullal: Drinking water problem being faced here has only worsened. There is a great demand for water tankers. Those with bore wells and open well are minting money, but there is a person in Ullal who has exemplified charity by providing water from his borewell for free.

This work of charity is by Abdul Rauf Musliyar (70) who lives near Ullal Dargha. He was been working as the assistant preacher at Ullal’s Syed Madani Dargha since the last 47 years and along with providing spiritual service to the people of the village, he is now also quenching their thirst by providing the much required water for free.

No fees

Ullal is facing acute water shortage and the Ullal municipality is trying its best to provide water. Water is being continuously supplied from the well at Ullal Dargha and around 150 water tankers are being provided with water from Musliyar’s bore well daily.

If all who provide water to water tankers charge Rs 50 per tanker, Mr Musliyar is not charging anything. Water is being continuously supplied form 5am in the morning to 2 am late into the night. The motor at the borewell keeps running from morning to evening. Mr Musliyar is not charging any money for providing water and is also paying the electricity bill by himself. He has been providing free water from his house since the last three years.

Social concern is commendable

“Abdul Rauf Musliyar’s father Yusuf Musliyar was the Khatibar at the Dargha and a renowned scholar. His son Abdul Rauf Musliyar was a Khatibar and providing service as an assistant Khazi and his social concern along with religiosity is commendable,” says Rashid Ullal, President of Ullal Dargha

For the satisfaction of ancestors

“Water belongs to god and it is not mine. It belongs to everyone. I believe that this little act of mine may provide satisfaction to my elders and ancestors,” explains Abdul Rauf Mulsiyar, Drinking Water Donor
