Mumbai: With the number of omicron cases crossing the 100 mark in Maharashtra on Friday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has issued orders making it mandatory for Mumbai residents arriving from Dubai to undergo a seven-day home quarantine with RT-PCR examination.
In an order issued on Friday, the BMC said passengers returning from Dubai must undergo RTPCR testing on the seventh day.
If found to be covid is positive, passengers will be transferred to institutional quarantine as per the current guidelines. Passengers coming from other parts of Maharashtra will not be allowed to take public transport, the order said.
Meanwhile, in view of the expected crowds during the upcoming festivities amid fears of omikron transformation, the Maharashtra government on Friday issued new covid 19 guidelines banning the congregation of more than five persons in public places from 9 pm to 6 am. These measures will apply from mid-night 24-25 December.
