Mangaluru: Police have arrested six persons in the gruesome murder of rowdy sheeter Rahul Thigalaya alias Kakke Rahul at Yemmekere grounds.
Mahendra Shetty (27) resident of Yemmekere, Akshay Kumar (25) of Bolara, Sushit (20) of Yemmekere, Dhillesh Bangera (21) of Morgans Gate, Shubham (26) of Bolara, and Vishnu P (20) of Yemmekere, have been arrested for their involvement in the crime, Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar told reporters on Monday.
The weapons used in the crime — 3 swords, 4 sickles, 3 knives — two scooters, a Royal Enfiled Buller bike, and 5 mobile phones have been seized, police said.
Police added that the investigation revealed that 13 persons were involved in the crime.
Rowdy sheeter Kakke Rahul (25) was hacked to death at Yemmekere ground in Pandeshwar police station limits on Thursday, April 28.
Rahul’s friend Santosh Kumar had alleged that the murder took place due to an old gang feud. The murder was retaliation for Rahul’s involvement in beating Mahendra Shetty’s brother two years ago, the complaint said.
The brutal murder, in full public view, had sent shockwaves throughout the city.
