Muslim devotee wears Hanuman Mala, says ‘harmony greater than religion’

Vijayapura: Amid the Hindu-Muslim trade face-off at the Anjanadri Hills during the Hanuman Mala Visarjana event, a Muslim devotee of Lord Hanuman has worn the Hanuman Mala and had left for a pilgrimage to Hanuman Janmabhoomi (Anjanadri Hills).

Jafar Benne is the devotee, and a resident of Narasalagi village of Basavana Bagewadi taluk, Vijayapura district.

Jafar who has applied tilak on his forehead, worn saffron shall as a turban on his head and Hanuman Mala on his neck says, “Harmony is greater than religion”.

He said that he was on a pilgrimage to Anjanadri Hills located in Gangavati taluk of Koppal district and will end his ‘Vrat’ (spiritual act/process as per Hindu culture and tradition).
