Bengaluru: Reels are all the rage when it comes to online content nowadays. People of all age groups browse through these snappy short videos. In a shocking incident, a man has reported to police that his wife has eloped with a man whom she met while posting reels.

A resident of Subedarpalya, identified as Joseph Antony has lodged a complaint with the Yeshwantpur police to trace his wife Namitha Kumari, and their 4-year-old son, both of whom have been missing since January 26.

According to the complaint, Joseph Antony, who works as a CCTV camera installer and an electrician, got married to Jharknhand-native  Namita Kumari nine years ago. The couple has two sons.

Namitha got involved in reels, posting videos of her singing and dancing to popular tunes. About 6 months ago she met Delhi-based Deepak Mehra who also made reels. The two struck a friendship and spent a lot of time chatting on WhatsApp and video calls. Deepak came to Bengaluru on January to meet Namita on January 9, the complaint alleges.

According to the police, Joseph who came to know about this had advised Namitha to mend her ways.

However, Namitha dunked Joseph’s phone in water and broke her phone on the morning of January 26 and walked out of the house taking her younger son with her without informing anyone.

Joseph suspects that Namitha may have gone with Deepak and has requested the police to trace them.

A police investigation is underway.
