Periyapatna: A physical education teacher has been accused of sending lewd messages to a student and threatening another for confronting him about his behavior.
The student’s family has registered a complaint at the Bettadapura police station against Nithyananda Patigar, a physical education teacher at Bhuvanahalli Government High School in this regard.
As per the complaint, the accused teacher had been sending sexually explicit and suggestive messages to the girl student almost every day. The victim, a class 8 student, confided about the constant harassment from the teacher to a male relative who also studies in the same school.
The boy discussed the issue with his friends and later confronted the teacher about his unethical behavior.
However, it is alleged that on March 25, Nityananda Patigar allegedly called the boy to his chambers, assaulted him, and threatened to get him rusticated if he revealed the matter to anyone.
The complaint claimed that the boy was depressed by the humiliation and attempted suicide by consuming poison. The boy is battling life and death at the Krishna Rajendra Hospital, it added.
