Chikkamagaluru: Police arrested two persons in connection with the metal nails found strewn on road leading to the Datta Peeta Bababudangiri.
Miscreants had thrown metal nails along the route to the disputed place of worship ahead of the Datta Jayanti celebrations on December 6. It was alleged that the nails dispersed with the nefarious intention to cause accidents in vehicles arriving for the celebrations.
A case had been registered at the Chikkamagaluru Rural police station in this regard.
Police who took up the investigation found that 2 persons had bought about a kilogram of nails, similar to those found on the road, from a hardware shop in Chikkamagaluru city. Based on this, Mohammed Shahbaz (29) and Waheed Hussain (21) of Dubainagar were arrested, sources said.
It is learned that some others were involved in the incident. Police are on the lookout for the absconding accused, sources added.
