Mangaluru: A 44-year-old man, Shashidhar of Bookanakere in Mandya district passed away on Monday, October 15 a day after being knocked down by a KTM motorbike near Nantoor Junction.
Shashidhar, a teacher by profession, had arrived in the city, along with 39 other teachers from Mandya district to attend a Kannada workshop organised by Azeem Premji Foundation.
On Sunday, October 14 night at around 9.30 pm he and few of his friends had stepped out to enjoy a stroll by the roadside, when the biker, Merwin Jaikar in a bid to overtake another vehicle abruptly steered the bike to the left, knocking Shashidhar down in the process near Padua here.
Owing to the impact of the fall, Shashidar sustained serious head injuries and though he was rushed to a hospital immediately he passed away without responding to treatments on Monday.
A case has been booked against Merwyn Jaiker for causing the accident.
