Mangaluru: Terming apprehensions over the National Education Policy-2020 as unnecessary, Minister for Higher Education and IT and Biotechnology C.N. Ashwath Narayan on Monday said national education policy will completely transform our entire society and will be the answer to many shortcomings in the education system.

He was speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the awareness programme on the new policy for all stakeholders at Mangalore university.

“Several people are saying that the government is trying to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) in haste. But, it is not true as we have held several talks before the implementation. Also, the claims that the new education policy is the next step in the saffronisation of India is rubbish,” he said.

He further said, ” NEP offers flexibility for art students to choose subjects. Our students have to compete at the global level. ”

“Show me the ‘anti-student’ points in the NEP. There should not be any misunderstanding over the policy since it had been articulated keeping in view the interests of students.  Only the NEP-2020 could help build their bright future because of its holistic educational concepts,” he argued.
